This period reflected the growth of MBC and its influence in forming busi-ness organizations nationwide, its partnership with the World Econo-mic Forum, the birth of the Philippine Business Magazine, and the start of the Executive Outlook Survey. The smooth transition of power from Corazon Aquino to Fidel Ramos enabled the new administration to focus on imple-menting economic reforms as well as addressing insurgencies and the power crisis.

Pres. Ramos’ forays abroad also generated investor interest resulting in economic stability and good will. But natural calamities, corruption, and regional financial threats eroded these gains as income inequality conti-nued to linger. As the country marked its centenary, Filipinos sought a new leader to deliver them from poverty.
