Executive Director Bill Luz retires
Changing of the Guards

15 December 2006 -- After 24 years at MBC -- 19 of them as Executive Director – Guillermo “Bill” Luz is retiring this December. Bill is being replaced by Alberto A. Lim, recently retired from Ten Knots Development Corporation (owners and managers of El Nido resorts).

Bill’s tenure at MBC coincided with some of the most exciting periods in the country’s history, from the end of Martial Law, through two People Powers, and economic boom and bust periods. Organizationally, these were also exciting times for the MBC, starting from a small staff of just three people (which included two part-time staff!) running monthly meetings and one publication, to today’s professionally-run secretariat of almost 25 people who have organized over 300 meetings in 25 years and who now research and publish a magazine and two newsletters per month, a daily e-letter, and four websites on top of MBC’s numerous corporate social responsibility projects.

Bertie has had a long and successful business career and has had good working relationships with the NGO community. More importantly, he is also a strong advocate of many of MBC’s issues and is closely aligned with the values which MBC has come to be known by.
