The Philippines-France Business
Council was launched on 6 October 1998 in Manila in the presence
of Philippine Trade and Industry Undersecretary Melito Salazar
and French Minister of Foreign Trade Jacques Dondoux.
The Council is composed of top business executives
from both countries and was established to promote business
and investment between the Philippines and France. The Council
provides an umbrella organisation and overall framework for
identifying opportunities for cooperation between the business
communities of the two countries. Specific business opportunities
and programmes are followed up and implemented by private
sector companies in both countries.
The Council's objectives are to identify and
develop areas for cooperation between corporations of France
and the Philippines; to encourage and develop further investments;
to enhance and expand trade links; and to develop and foster
cooperation between French and Philippine companies in third-party
countries of Asia Pacific.
The Philippines-France Business Council
is chaired by
Mr. Aurelio Montinola III (President & CEO of Bank of the Philippine Islands).
The Makati Business Club (Philippines) and
Medef International
(France) are the secretariats of the Council.
