The
MBC recently sponsored and helped build its second house for Habitat
for Humanity during its YouthBuild 2002 session. This is the second
year that MBC has sponsored a house. On April 15, the entire MBC
staff took the day off from work to help build a house at the Muntinlupa
jobsite of Habitat for Humanity. The staff capped off the day by
completing the walls for the first floor of the two-storey structure
and poured the concrete flooring. The MBC-sponsored house was built
alongside houses sponsored by Ayala group of companies
(with both Jaime Augusto and Fernando Zobel de Ayala as part of
the construction crew), Caltex, Penshoppe, and others. This years
YouthBuild steering committee was chaired by Margie Moran-Floirendo.
The MBC house was funded for the second straight year from the proceeds
of the VISA card project with RCBC Bankard where MBC picks up one
percent of all purchases charged to the card. Each house costs P120,000.
MBC members contribute to projects like Habitat
for Humanity every time they use the MBC Visa card.
