The Makati Business Club provides its members information and analysis of key macroeconomic indicators through its various publications and reports. The MBC Research and Information Group also provides research support for position papers and publications and conducts periodic surveys. Economic Research outputs include:

Economic Statistics
A compilation of key macroeconomic indicators grouped into 16 sectors and areas - agriculture, banking, demographics, economy, environment, governance, industry, information and communication technology, investments, labor, property, public finance, tourism, trade, transportation, and utilities.

Task Forces
In support of President Arroyo’s economic agenda as enunciated in her first State of the Nation Address on 23 July 2001, the MBC organized in August 2001 six task forces: housing, education, ICT (Information and Communications Technology), agriculture, tax reforms, and tourism. MBC believes that these are the areas that government should focus on to facilitate the development process.

Policy Speeches
Every month, the Club conducts the MBC Forum to discuss a critical public policy issue or development. The full text or summaries of speeches delivered before the MBC Forum are available through MBC’s website www.mbc.com.ph starting with the 1981 meetings. Since 1981, the MBC has invited Heads of State, Cabinet Secretaries, Congressional leaders, Diplomats, and business executives to address its members.

Annual Forecast
The Research and Information Group releases at year-end an economic forecast for the upcoming year. This forecast is reviewed at mid-year and the necessary revisions and updates are made given actual developments during the first half of the year. Quarterly reports (released in March and September) are generated in between releases of forecast in June and December.

Global Competitiveness Report
The World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report is the world’s most authoritative annual guide to national competitiveness. With 75 countries being analyzed, the report is useful in making business decisions based on both current conditions and future opportunities.

The World Economic Forum is a Swiss-based organization of leaders from business, government, and the academe committed to improving the state of the world. MBC has been WEF’s exclusive partner institute in the Philippines for the preparation of international competitiveness reports since 1993.

Global Information Technology Report
Since it was first launched in 2001, the Global Information Technology Report has become a valuable and unique benchmarking tool to determine national ICT strengths and weaknesses, and to evaluate progress of countries in this area. The Report remains the most comprehensive and authoritative international assessment of the preparedness of countries to capture the benefits of participating in the networked world.
