MBC Task Force on Taxation Reform

Introduction
After EDSA 2, MBC expressed support to the government
to help the economy move forward. In this regard, the Board
of Trustees of the Makati Business Club met with Her Excellency
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Soon after, the MBC Board
divided itself into task forces to help the government find
the most appropriate solutions to economic issues.
Composition of Task Force
The Taxation Reform Task Force chaired by AIM President
Roberto F. de Ocampo is composed of representatives and resource
persons from the following business and private sector organizations
primarily to help government enhance revenue measures and reduce
the fiscal deficit: Atty. Florecita Flores of the Philippine Chamber
of Commerce and Industry, Raul Concepcion of the Federation of Philippine
Industries, Benjamin Chua of the Federation of Filipino Chinese
Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dante Go of the Chinese Filipino
Business Club, Guillermo Luz of the Makati Business Club, Tomasa
Lipana of the the Management Association of the Philippines and
PriceWaterhousecoopers-Philippines, Cedric Bagtas of the Trade Union
Congress of the Philippines, Dr. Mario Lamberte of the Philippine
Institute for Development Studies, and Calixto Chikiamco of the
Foundation for Economic Freedom. Also in the Task Force are former
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Cesar Virata, former Finance
Secretary Ramon del Rosario, Jr., former Central Bank Governor Jose
Cuisia, Jr., former Finance Undersecretary Romeo Bernardo, former
Finance Undersecretary Milwida Guevara, former BIR Commissioner
Liwayway Vinzons Chato, former BIR Assistant Commissioner Joel Tan-Torres,
former Customs Commissioner Guillermo Parayno, and former Philippine
Deposit Insurance Corporation Executive Vice President Caesar Octavius
Parlade.
